Virtually Still Life - 3D
For this project I wanted to make something that is personal to me ie the things I can’t live without and who I am as a person. I was inspired by Still Life paintings that have skulls in them because they give me a feeling of a connection between human and objects, not just a beautiful painting of objects together. Therefore I decided to include a skull in my scene, I think that is the best way to represent myself and to connect with this project. Other objects that I have chosen are my computer mouse, headphones, wires, a lily and an eyeball. I made my mouse instead of my laptop because it’s easier to create an interesting composition. A bad habit that I have is overthinking and I want to show it in my scene somehow, then I saw one of Philip Lueck’s work where he uses a mixed of generative 3D visuals (tangled wires and cubes) so I decided to use a lot of wires as well. The animation was a tricky part for me, initially I was just going to animate the camera and the eyeball but when I was nearly finished I thought it would be cool if I have a flower blooming revealing the eyeball inside. That is my way of showing my growth as a shy person to become more and more confident with myself and my art. I wish I spent more time playing with the background because I’m not really happy with how simple it is, but at the sametime I want to keep it that way because I don’t want to draw attention away from the main objects.
