Wearable Tech: Disco Belt

Disco Belt is a wearable technology accessory that aims to bring more fun into an outfit and the users’ experience. The belt's form and aesthetic are inspired by a vintage disco belt, it is more of a modern interpretation with 16 LEDs Neo Pixel ring that lights up with different colors and pattern and can be re-modified to suit any outfits and many events. The belt is made for festivals, raves, clubbing, etc. and also can be worn as a statement accessory piece to spice up a simple outfit. The main piece is made of clear acrylic crystals to diffuse the lights nicely, Lily pad is attached to the back of the Neo pixel ring. All the components are compacted in a box behind the crystals piece, which can be removed and reprogrammable to suit any purpose. The user can control the LEDs with a button attached on the front piece, each push will trigger a different color or different animation. There are 8 different variations of colors and animations already programmed in the Lily pad, they will loop through each one if the button is not pushed. The design of Disco belt is based on how I like my accessory and what I would wear myself: sleek, modern, simple but still make a statement.
